The Carnegie Academy, in partnership with Collegiate Consulting, has taken a significant step forward in supporting Atlanta Metropolitan State College (AMSC) in executing “the playbook” developed by the National Institute for Student Success (NISS). This collaboration aims to accelerate student success initiatives on the AMSC campus, with direct engagement from President Sellers.
Last week, a pivotal meeting was held to align campus leadership and support teams with the NISS framework. The agenda included a comprehensive overview of AMSC’s core activities, ranging from admissions and recruiting to student support services such as counseling, career development, and housing. The meeting also highlighted the broad scope of student support services that are integral to student success, emphasizing the importance of interdepartmental collaboration.
Robin Capehart, Principal Fellow from The Carnegie Academy, has been designated to lead the implementation of Recommendations 3 and 4 from the NISS playbook. These recommendations are critical to ensuring sustained progress and meaningful impact for AMSC students.
The NISS team, including Ms. Laura Mills, Dr. Victoria Swinney, Dr. Virginia Stelling, Dr. Kimberly Cobb, and Ms. Kris Tran, joined college stakeholders for an in-depth listening session and dialogue. This session provided a platform for sharing insights about AMSC’s current landscape and identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships, enhance institutional capacity, and ensure the sustainability of student success initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a wrap-up and discussion of next steps, setting the stage for continued collaboration and strategic action. The Carnegie Academy and Collegiate Consulting are committed to working closely with President Sellers and the AMSC team as they advance these transformative efforts.
